I purchased this item because I thought it would not only transfer power but also data, I was incorrect about the data.

Most backlit keyboards have too many other problems to justify their costs. Most related to sketchy Bluetooth. But I still need to see my keyboard when working at night. This gooseneck extension allows me to control the amount of night light I use for my keyboard--a single LED, dark, the color I want. Enough to see my extended keyboard without hurting my eyes in the dark.The first problem with the unit, which other reviewers poiint out, is tha tthe USB accepting head is designed oddly. The bar that contacts your insert's USB pad is too near the lip of the plastic piece. As you force your USB device in, it threatens to break the connector. Not good.Another problem other reviewers mention and which I agree with is that the end that goes into your power-supply or computer is straight (180-degrees) but ought to be at a 90-degree angle. The way the lap neck is designed means you'll waste a lot of the gooseneck length adjusting the shape of the lamp out-around-and up.I wouldn't want to have to adjust this neck. I'll set it and forget it. I think the mentioned limitations would become a big deal if the unit were moved a lot or inserts were changed out a lot. If you don't need to move the neck a lot, it's firm enough to hold a light light where you need it. I'll update my review if I run into any big problems.

Couldn't resist this item but only bought one. Kinda wish I had two but debated that at the time and went with one. Will probably order another before summer because I use fans and lights all USB powered by power banks camping as well as on a back covered patio with no AC to it. This will be handy and is much nicer and sturdier than a fan that actually cost a lot that came with the bendable style of positioning rod that just does not work well at all. This does work and that's just great.

I don't what this cable is. It doesn't do data. But it doesn't seem to do power either. At least not all the time. I'm trying to use it to power (which it's supposed to do) a laptop cooler. But clearly this thing just doesn't want to do anything related to connecting to a computer, even if just for power. So maybe (???) it works as part of a cable chain connected to a power outlet?Clearly it's a part created for people who need an articulating cable in special circumstances. But it has no well-defined definition of the circumstances in which it will actually work.So in the end it's just a failure of part that could have been something especially useful. You should not buy this.

Everything about these were fine and as I hoped except for the fact that the female end of these (where you plug in a USB device) is way too tight. It's difficult to get a USB drive or device in there, and when you finally do, it's near impossible to get out without breaking whatever you put in.I actually ended up accidentally pulling the back end off my USB drive while trying to unplug it.This issue makes these almost worthless as it's such a risk to attach anything to them... Unless you want to possibly have it permanently attached.If you find another option like this product, try that one instead.

So hard to get the light into the end i bought them for. Wrecked one of my bluetooth dongles when i tried to remove it. It kept the metal bit and the rest of the dongle seperated from it. Amazing how tight it is.

I bought three of these, to be used along with USB LED lights. They're great for throwing light on your keyboard, paperwork. If you combine them with a USB port duplicator with on-off switches, very simple to control, and your computer is already providing 5 volts anyway, so it's not like having a 120 volt lamp running.

Although the product title describes it as a "30cm Flexible USB Male to Female Stand Holder Data Power Gooseneck Short Cable" this is *not* a USB data cable. It is a USB power cable only. I'm giving it a low star rating because this fact is not made plain in the product title or description.
