all love the feeder
replaced with another type worm feeder from Amazon, the new one is recycled plastic, green two sides and bottom. the top is clear plastic as are two of the sided. The two green ends have holes for the birds to enter. I put two holes in the two side clear plastic so they have 4 holes for entry and departure. The Carolina Wren, chickadees, titmouse... all love the feeder. This open style was really good until I went with the other.. more like a bird house.. I only put mealworms out in the bad weather fall winter... and this new type keeps the worms out of the elements best. The mesh one just isn't quite as good. It certainly will do nicely for the price. The green and clear one is easily twice the price.

Rusting after a couple of months
The Cardinals, finches and mocking birds love it especially when I put mealworms in the feeder. The only thing is it doesn't like the humid weather here in FL and is really rusting from the hanging hook. I need to find something sturdier!

This feeder is NOT good for live worms
I've had this feeder out, winter and summer, for many years, and I've had hundreds of bluebirds visit, especially during breeding season when the parents bring their fledglings in to feed. (I do live on an acreage with state park property on three sides.) Busiest times for bluebirds are spring and summer (to help nourish busy parents) and winter (when bugs and fruit are scarce). This feeder is NOT good for live worms, but a handful of freeze-dried worms twice a day keeps them (and me) very happy. Until you've seen a male bluebird in the sun, you've never really experienced bright blue before!

I like this feeder
I like this feeder, it works well keeping out the larger undesirable birds away. The top edges were rather "rough", so I put a cut piece of clear silicone tubing on each side of the square, that solved it, & helped keep the live mealworms from crawling up & out.

Good Mealworm wild bird feeder
Good Mealworm wild bird feeder, wire bottom keeps worms dry which is best feature. I would like the wire bottom to be more firmly attached so it does not bend under a little force.

The basket feeder does not sit level and slants at a sharp angle. I might try taking it apart and putting a large washer at the bottom of the metal rod to see if that stabilizes it.

NEEDS WORK -
I was happy to find a product made in the USA but so disappointed when I received the two feeders I ordered that I promptly returned them. The assembly instructions are the worst - Hard to understand - And the parts do not fit together smoothly. The bottom tray is made of wire and has sharp pieces along the top edge - I cut my finger on those sharp wires trying to put the feeder together. My first thought was COULD THOSE SHARP WIRE EDGES INJURE THE BIRDS? It's like they forgot to test this feeder - In my opinion it definitely needs lots of work. I've been feeding birds for over 30 years and have purchased numerous types and brands of feeders - I would not recommend this feeder to anyone until they make some improvements.

PREVIOUS ONE WAS GREAT, HOPEFUL
It is too soon to say about durability but hopefully will be as good as previous feeder. Seems sturdy.
