Great Fun Film To Watch With Excellent 3D Special EFX
This is a great movie and I just had to write a review after seeing it. I can assure anyone who is looking for a great movie to watch and that is available in 3D ( I love Blu-Ray 3D but the selection is a bit limited )That this movie is simply tons of fun to watch and enjoy. The film is lighthearted in nature, and the acting is actually much better then I expected. Kudo's to the Director and to all of the cast. The 3D effects are amoung the best I have seen so far. I have been buying Blue Ray 3D movies and some of them are great stuff to watch, and others are absolutely awful to watch. No plot, worse acting, and no real 3D effects.( I should add here that when I bought my 3D system, none of the reviews i came across mentioned the difference between passive and active 3D. So I bought an LG 47 inch passive 3D 6200 series TV. It was one of the highest and best ranked TVs.Later I discovered that Active 3D has significantly better 3d effects. I didn't do my homework.. And nothing was mentioned regarding the 2 different types of 3D available when I was reading through Amazon product specifications either. I actually was unaware there were 2 different types of 3D at the time. If I could do it again I would definitely buy a Samsung LED TV with Active 3D, and may still do so, while delegating this TV to a different room. But as I wrote above I should have done some research. Actually the LG model I did buy has some pretty good Passive 3D abilities and LG displays are excellent for HD movies also. so I can wait for a bit while pricing points start to drop on all of this 3D tech. As prices always do drop especially on TV systems. )Anyway I wanted to include the above information because even on my passive 3D system, this film had tons of great special effects flying out of the TV and aiming right for me... I actually tried to block an image of a small rock that was flying right at me, instinctively.. Pretty amazing for a 3D passive system. I can only imagine what this film would be like with Active 3D tech.So I highly recommend this film for everyone, its not violent, its not scary! It is very engaging for the type of movie that it is. And it has some suspense filled moments. It has been done with an overall sense of very good Humor throughout the film, and has, of course, the usual but well managed love interest theme going on throughout it.Getting into the great mood and the upbeat rhythm of this film is easy to do and its a great 3D movie on an early Saturday evening type of movie. It has a really good sound track as well.

Fun-fun-fun
Well putting on the old red/blue anaglyph 3D glasses was a blast from the past and it's still surprising at how well it works. Hint: kick the brightness up to maximize. But that still isn't the big sell here. Brandon Fraser's reluctant then turned enthusiastic hero portrayed with both humor and pathos is. It's magical, silly, funny and entertaining. Jules Verne might have not liked the adaptation but then again might have liked it... who knows? Anyway, it's good family fare with the overall message of the importance of family. The "Center of the Earth" adventure is just the backdrop and great fun. Watch it with your kids in 2D and then again in 3D and get that "OH WOW" effect as you enjoy it anew.

Fun But Old-School 3D
This is a fun sci-fi romp, and both the movie itself and the 3D rate 3 stars. This movie was clearly crafted for 3D, with flying rocks and insects and other objects deliberately jumping off the screen at you. Unfortunately, these 3D objects lack the solidity and realism of what's available in other movies and come across as a bit gimmicky. That's okay for a fun popcorn-movie ride, and the 3D doesn't fall "flat" like some other almost-two-dimensional 3D flicks. Not the best of the 3D stable, but certainly not the worst either.

Geology Enthusiast
Who doesn’t love brendan fraser!?! This movie is adventurous and fun. I’ve watched it far too many times since its come out, and one of the few movies I decided to purchase on Amazon. Sometimes it was getting hard to fine on other platforms so that’s why I purchased digitally. I’m usually a vhs & dvd girl. Oh how the times have converted me to continue to love supporting films like this. For the geology point of view there’s references to rocks and minerals that helped me remember hardness and location. This is also one of those heart warming films if you’ve ever lost a parent or someone close to you and how the journey is truly not over.

BRENDAN FRASER'S "JOURNEY" DVD
For once the blurb on the reverse of the DVD sleeve is right! "The Family Fantasy Film of the Year 10 out of 10 " Released in 2008 this is just what it says - An excellent adventure/fantasy, suitable for all the family but containing enough thrills, spills and danger to satisfy young and old(er) brains. The CGI is spectacular without being overwhelming, and the plot, whilst basically Jules Verne, is bang up to date, and doesn't suffer for it. One of the things I liked were the three characters _ Fraser not quite the scientist/professor, but excellent. Josh Hutchison as his nephew (when we forst meet him he is a sulky uncomunicative 13 year old, but very quickly becomes a very likeable 13 year old.). As for Icelandic actress Anita Briem....If you are going to be trapped at the Centre of the Earth....! No need to describe the plot (I hope) - just lets say the film rips along at a great pace for 90 mins. The DVD is excellent (In my package I got a 3D version with glasses, I watched the 2D). Great picture, sound an subtitles. Extras not seen by me. If you feel like a genuinly unpretentios adventure for all the family - this is it!

This film is purely an adventure/action film!
It takes you on quite the adventure into the centre of the Earth. This film was intended to be in 3D but I, alas, only saw it in 2D. So there are some shots/scenes that don’t make much sense in 2D. I found the action to progress quite rapidly and the underground world they discovered is magical. Some of the action sequences were beyond believable – but I think that’s where the excitement is fun comes from. I did however, found it a little annoying that the film repeatedly relied upon the deus ex machina device (which is a plot device used when a seemingly impossible conflict is solved by an unexpected person or event).I’m not sure if Brandon Fraser was right for the role – as he seemed a bit too young and not overly believable as a learned geology professor. The female support was a bit older than the book as Josh Hutcherson’s character was to fall in love with her. But he still had a crush on her. Speaking of which – how cute was Josh as a kid?All in all – if you’re looking for a mindless, colourful, action, adventure film with some witty one-liners – then you’ll love this. The five star rating is for the condition of the product. No problems with the case, disc, or shipping of the product.
