Disney's Magic in the Streets: Parade Memories

I'll start by saying I'm a bit of a Disney Soundtrack connoisseur, but that's not to say I'm a Disney music snob. I'm not the kind of person to cringe over the sidekick characters' songs and even have a soft spot for "it's a small world". But I highly value instrumental tracks. I've been collecting Disney soundtracks for over 10 years and am the proud owner of such titles as "Wishes", "Fantasmic", and "The Walt Disney World Official Album" in addition to numerous OSTs for the films. Naturally, this one piqued my interest.I gave the CD 3 stars because I loved the things I loved, but felt there could be improvements, maybe a 2nd edition is in order? In a nutshell, the CD would automatically be worthy of 5 stars to me if it either had fewer character voiceovers (and more repetition of the songs such as "Fantasy" that are exclusive to the parades) or if it had track options with and without the characters. Don't get me wrong, the characters actually had pretty good voices! But there were so many times when I heard snippets of the gorgeous music and the background choir through the voices and thought "I'd like to hear more of that on its own... " The last 5 tracks are largely what I wanted the 1st 3 to be.Let's dive in further:1. Share A Dream Come True Parade Entrance: Sweet intro, beautiful music, but some of the voice overs (such as when the characters compliment audience members) felt awkward. Probably because I wasn't looking at them. In-person the voice overs are pretty necessary to pull the theme together, but if you want background or "white-noise" music this isn't for you. Apparently, some tracks were also omitted for this version, which makes it all the more awkward that they put in the voiceovers they did.2. Disney Stars and Motorcars Parade Medley: Save for 2 things, I liked this more than Track 1. First, why include "Welcome to the Big Blue House" in all of this? Second, the choir didn't really add as much here. It was a little strange how quickly one song jumped to another, with the choir singing like 2 lines from each.3. Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade: I think I liked this the most of the 1st 3 tracks. All of the voice actors were spot-on and the tunes were catchy. Again, I just wish I could hear the music on its own because that would be perfect background music.4. Fantasy: This song is simply beautiful and nostalgia-inducing. No complaints here. This song alone made the album pay for itself.5. Show-Biz: Kind of jazzy and upbeat. Very pleasant.6. Discovery: Like with Fantasy, it's simply a great track.7. Adventure: Great song. Had a nice EPCOT-Millennium-Celebration feel to me.8. Share A Dream Come True: This would easily be the best song on the album if I'd never heard it before. It's only real problem is that I had a comparison point. There is another version of the song that makes me cry like an infant.

I bought this as a gift for someone after having my own copy and adoring it! If you love the soundtracks from Disney, you will love this. The only parade that is on the CD and also still playing in WDW is The jammin jungle one in Animal Kingdom, but the others bring me back awesome memories!!!
