Masters Scoop Ball Retriever - Black

I bought this to replace a "pocket" on which was quite flimsy and broke twice before I felt it was beyond repair. This one is very robust indeed. It is about the size of a golf iron, and so fits in my bag among the clubs. Because it is longer than the pocket ones, it reaches further with much less flexion. A really good buy.

The picture doesn't match to the actual mechanism. The one I received has a cage which isnt too good on getting a ball from above. The one shown has a clip that drops down and grabs the ball. Still it sort of works some of the time, bit not exactly what I ordered.

Like others I didn't get the one shown. I received a cage type. It works OK but you can't scoop up the ball. Rather you need to plop the cage over the ball at let the mechanism. It also does not lock out very well.

Paid for itself already by retrieving more balls than I've lost, as I guess other golfers don't have one of these in their bags. It's a little too flexible when fully extended and, as others have noted, the directions for locking/unlocking the shaft are reversed in the instructions.

Arrived amazingly fast - ordered late Thursday evening and arrived first thing Saturday. Not a golfer myself (this is a for a gift) so no practical experience with the item. I am not over impressed with the quality of the pin/ rivet used to hold the head to the shaft - looks flimsy and that rivet must take a lot of strain when you scoop a ball. I guess it will work ok for a fair while though and if necessary it will be real easy to replace the rivet with a bolt and lock nuts.

Worked OK when I'd realised that the label giving details of which way to twist the extension tubes was back to front, i.e. you have to twist in the direction marked "lock" to unlock and extend and vice-versa!Could be frustrating in mid-game.

This is a great addition to my golf bag. I have used it once so far and it does exactly what it is supposed to. My golf buddies also have retrievers but they have had to modify theirs to work properly so they reckon mine is better.

Strong enough for what I wanted without costing too much so happy with its performance. Tucks nicely into my golf bag.
