Works like a charm

I usually have my iPhone and iPod in the car on my commute, and it's the iPod in particular I like to have access to. Unfortunately, the dash in my car isn't really set up to make this easy and my car audio doesn't allow track changes to be routed through it, so my husband decided to pick up this air vent mount to make my life a little easier. I initially tried the mount with my iPhone, but unfortunately it wasn't very useful. The issue is that I have quite a thick case, with an uneven chequered back. The plate didn't work underneath the casing as the casing was simply too thick to allow the magnetic bond to work. The case was too heavy and uneven to also use the outer metal adhesive disc. We have tried this on my husband's iPhone, with thinner (and smoother outer) case and both the outer and inner plates worked fine. So it really is a thickness, texture and weight issue. As I'm not prepared to ditch my beloved phone case, another style of mount is probably more suited for what I have (probably a cradle-style width adjustible pinch-grip).However... I do use this now with my iPod with no problems whatsovever. I use the adhesive disc stuck directly onto the back of the iPod as I have no case for it. It sticks brilliantly, and is very convenient in being able to pop on/off the air vent mount and I can flick tracks as necessary with ease.

Best phone holder ever, had this car magnet in the last car, unfortunately sold car with it.Repurchasing again.You just need to put the magnet in the air ventilation and stick metal bit on the phone. Magnet holds the phone very steady, even going through bumpy roads.Very loved and very recommended!

I have to say i really impressed with this, i started using google maps as a sat nav, this little magnet does the trick of holding mu phone on the vent grill, it comes with a think sheet of metal you can put inside your phone case cover or you can stick it on the back of your phone if the battery/cover is sealed.sticking the plate on does look a bit unsightly but im not too fussed, my large screen looks great and even with heavy road bumps it did not fall off, its very discreet and you can leave it on when your car is unoccupied unlike bigger mobile holders.I am still using this and like it a lot :) i have attached a picture of it on my vent.
