EarthMinded DIY Rain Barrel Diverter Parts for 2x3, 3x4 and Round Downspouts (Diverter, Winter Cover Plate, Parts to fit 3 and 4 inch Round Downpipe)

I bought these last fall and didn't get them installed until this week, the following spring. We had a light rain overnight and into today, and my storage tote is half full already. I'm not seeing much, if any, water coming out the end of the downspout so it appears it is all being diverted into my storage tank. I had a lot of pieces of corrugated flexible plastic tubing that I am using to connect the diverter to the tote, and I found that 1" nominal pipe fits inside the outlet of the diverter and into the tubing, so I got 3" nipples of plastic used in lawn irrigation systems for that connection. The other end of the tubing goes to a fitting that connects to 1 1/2" pvc plumbing fitting that is adapted to screw into the top opening of the tote. Now I just need to get the similar connection done on the other side of the garage building so I can fill up the rest of my water storage system, and then I should be ready for summer gardening.It is easy to install the diversion fitting into the downspout but it took some experimenting with different fittings, hoses, and tubing to connect it to the water storage tank.

This works amazingly great. Buying the kit with the drill bits included was perfect and saved me a ton of money versus buying the hole saws myself at Home Depot or somewhere else. I didn't own any hole saws and what bits were provided are probably sturdy enough for the odd job around the house after as well. I wasn't sure how fast it would work with the hole in the middle, but it filled a 50 gal barrel in one afternoon rainshower. I like how when you install it level with your barrel the overflow just goes down the drainpipe because we have to keep our barrel up on our porch due to our HOA and it would just be a mess of water coming out of the rain barrel on the porch otherwise.

We started catching what little moisture we get, this kit is nice to add on barrels to down spouts. This is a great price for add ons. The whole kit is great to get started then these are more reasonable to add more.

Wanting to get started with rain catchment, I came across the excellent video "BEST DIY RAIN BARREL Install" on youtube, which spurred me to action, delighted to find a link there to order the parts in one kit, I personally messed up my order and they were fabulous about solving it quickly for me. They have more helpful videos, instructions and supplies available on their website. Now I'm just waiting for rain! In California!

Came with downspout hole saw which made it easier. I installed in less than 8 minutes.

Love that the kit came with everything you’ll need, EXCEPT instructions. Lol I would have appreciated some guidance on the install height on the gutter in relation to the barrel but we figured it out. Installed pretty easily, the hole cup saw kit worked perfectly and will be a nice addition to our tool box. Just make sure to smooth the rough edges of the gutter off with a file before you put the diverter in because it can cut into the rubber (which we learned the hard way but we don’t have any leaks so far that I can tell...)We installed the kit with a FreeGarden 55 gallon barrel and instead of using the top entry area through the mesh insert we just popped one of the cutouts on the side out and fed the tubing through there. The first rain the barrel filled up about 10” and there didn’t appear to be any leaking. So far so good!! Our first house had a barrel that was collapsible and we were able to zip the entire downspout into it. Our last house had underground gutters and I didn’t know how to set the barrel up but this would have worked perfectly and I wish I knew about it because I missed having a barrel! Love that the install looks super neat and clean without cutting the gutter off and without a bunch of tubes running all around.

This item works great. It was easy to install. We had a rain storm that resulted in 0.6 of an inch in rain. It filled my 50 gallon rain barrel to capacity in no time.

Perfect design. Highly recommend over other applications to capture rain water.
