NYNE Multimedia Bass Sport Portable Bluetooth Speaker (Black/Red) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I'd give this a 5-star rating, but one of the reasons that I bought it was that it was supposed to have a built in charging port in the back that can be used to boost your cellphone, etc. The charging port's there, but it's completely dead. I've tried it with different USB charging cables, with the unit on and off, and it will not charge anything. The USB cables were fine as moving the source to the desktop PC's usb port charges just fine.Other than that, the unit is good. The sound is very rich, and deep, and you can almost feel the base. Voluee is no problem; the speakers are plenty loud.As you can see in the picture, with the dollar bill used for scale, the speaker is fairly big, it's also pretty heavy, probably about 5 lbs. at least, so if you're looking for a portable unit, keep looking. You would not want to bring this one on a camping trip or strap it onto your bike rack. There's a telephone speaker on it, which works very well.The buttons and controls are all black rubber on black rubber, which looks good but is hard to see. This particular model is no longer being manufactured, as I understand matters, but the successor model is very similar.As I said, I would have given this a 5 if everything had worked, but Nyne should improve its quality control to make sure all the advertised features work.

Well. This is the updated review. The blue tooth range is isn't that good of advertised. The range kind of came up short, more like 15 feet to twenty. Not like 30 ft or so range like the klisph kmc3. After 15 more feet away it started clipping and losing signal in the house. Other than the Bluetooth issue the unit is great for the money. I'll buy it any day. I'll take this over bose and beat any time for the great sounds and money. I'm giving this 4.5 stars because of bluetooth rang is being shorter than expected. I used every day when I'm not working. It seem more portable than my klisph kmc3 and still have loud sound and great bass sound.

If you a LOUD bluetooth speaker at a great price look no further. These have been discontinued so get them when you can. (They are functionally identical to the highly rated Nyne Bass speakers, but were released as a lower cost promotional item with red instead of white or black end panels.) The Bass has been replaced by the Bass Pro which according to some reviews here has a bluetooth range nowhere near the advertised 50 ft, and in many reviews, even less that the 30 ft range of the original Bass.

You cannot beat the price on this superb sounding portable speaker. I've had it for a couple of months already & it has not let me down. It beats any portable speaker that any of my friends or family members have pulled out. Lol, either my ears are gone or modern audio designers/builders are getting some things very right ? This Nyne bass bluetooth speaker has been accompanying me around the house and garden for the last 6 hours with my playlist on random, I typically listen at moderate volume and listen to everything from folk to funk. this box has great midrange and delivers bass like sealed 10" subwoofer (gets lower then an 8") :D I will be buying more of these and gifting them to friends, $40 for a refurb / returned unit. excellent value for money.....

An all around excellent sounding portable speaker. Probably too large for what most people are looking for in a bluetooth unit. That trade-off is a speaker system that produces large amounts of clear tight bass. Not boomy or exaggerated. The midranges and high notes are present in a very balanced, full sounding and accurate manner. All types of music are pleasing to listen to. The unit connects very easily to android phones using NFC technology, something many other bluetooth units don't offer. Money well spent

A co-worker has one of these and I was really impressed with the sound. I bought this one and my only complaint is it doesn't seem to have much range. Maybe it's just me, but when it's working, it's awesome. Good overall sound, good bass. I usually leave it plugged in so I can't comment on battery life when you're outside. But I like it.

First I want to say that this unit is superb in sound and quality. I'm somewhat of an audiophile and I want my music to sound the way it should. This little portable delivers low and tight bass, crisp highs and midrange filler that make listening to it a great experience. The bluetooth in adequate and we use it outside with no problem. It comeswith a gethering cable, but I have found (surprisingly) using it with the bluetooth connection brings out the best sound. Don't hesitate to pick one of these up if you're looking for a good bluetooth speaker.
