UniFlameR-3020 Polypropylene Hearth Rug, Chocolate

This carpet burns. Not flames, but black, melted pockmarks. Maybe this is normal, maybe we’re messy with our embers, but maybe not! Not sure what to think. Will try another type of mat, but maybe they all do this.

Positive: The rug definitely doesn’t scorch with wood coals that fall out of the fireplace insert.Negative:1) the rug is hard to clean2) after more than two weeks laying on the floor the ends still curl up. We have tried to warm up the fiberglass rug and have flipped over every night when we go to bed. The next day we flip it back to right side up and within minutes the ends start to curl up. We are keeping it because it does protect our new floors.Hopefully the ends will eventually start to lay down. If they do I will come back and give it 5 stars.

Very soft and laid flat even though it arrives rolled up. My fifteen year old cat started laying on it even before I built a fire, but really stretched out with btu’s available. Can’t comment on the utility for catching sparks as it just didn’t happen, probably because I was prepared🤔

Placed in front of fireplace last night while having a fire. Embers landed on the rug and it melted. Real hearth mats don't melt. I should have known because as soon as I took it out of the box it looked and felt like a bath mat and actually this is what this is. Very annoyed and disappointed. Sending it back and expect a refund. Do Not buy.

Nice large size, color was perfect. Not very thick. I can't really tell that this rug is more non-flammable than any other. But all in all, my parents were happy with it and that's what counts

Rug is okay and does not flame from sparks. It does leave burn marks from sparks. Non skid backing is lacking in ability to hold on hardware floor. Keep searching.

So I loved the rug until an amber landed on it. Completely burned through the pile and just melted. We've had other fireplace rugs and they typically hold up pretty well and you can scoop up the amber. Not this rug. Because it was starting to melt the amber practically bonded to the rug. Now I need to purchase another rug.

I am very happy with this purchase. I wanted a plain (no design) rug but could not find any that had a non-slip backing. I use it on a hard wood floor in front of a wood burning stove. It gets walked on occasionally so the non-slip feature is important.
