PACKED WITH GREAT INFORMATION & JUST WHAT I NEEDED
I am just now learning of histamine intolerance from which I have probably suffered with for 35 years but this year has been excruciating! I was experiencing what I thought was unrelenting sinus allergies, migraines, gut pain, hair loss, exhaustion, eye pain, irritability and more! My family doctor referred me to an Ear Nose & Throat specialist who requested I be tested for 39 allergens. After my skin prick test showed NO reaction to anything, even very little to the injected histamine I went online to find answers. Of course; my search showed that I have a histamine overload. I had never heard of this. Even my ENT doctor has little understanding of it and now wants to do a CT scan of my sinuses!Once again I thought I would have to "manage" my own symptoms. While I found much useful information online, this book has put it altogether in an easy to grab format. This book let me know that my gut pain is tied to histamine also. No GI doctor has given me relief or told me that! I had no idea why meat was also a problem for me but she explained it. She even mentioned a tie to melanoma which I have had! She tells of the diseases which are linked to high histamine levels. Each time I read this book I find another detail which helps me on my wellness journey. Knowledge is power!!Long story short....I have started on the 6 week diet which will most likely be my diet for life! I noticed an improvement the FIRST day on the diet!! I have ordered suggested supplements that I believe will help me also. I liked this book so well that I also had one sent to my aunts friend who has similar issues. When I find something that helps me I want to share it with other sufferers!!I have hope now that I can do more than "manage" my symptoms and can live symptom free with continued adherence to this plan. I also want to spread the word to others who have been in the dark about histamine intolerance which is probably more common than we realize. Thank you Anna Keating for doing the work to make it easier for us! I will continue to highly recommend this book to others who I think will benefit by also!!

Needs support
So this book sums up what histamine is and what foods are high histamine or trigger histamine. That is good. The problem is I need to know where these details are coming from. For instance, the book does not describe the author at all. What are her credentials? How did she get this information? There is no reference page either. So it makes me uneasy to trust that this is sound medical or nutritional advice. The editing could be better as well. Some of the sentences don't read correctly. The book is small, but a big part of the book is the daily meal plans. Since there is a lot of food on there that cause allergies for our family, I would have preferred more general information like at the beginning of the book, followed by some meal ideas. So, I liked the straight to the point information on how histamine affects the body and how to lower it. I would have liked to see some evidence to support this. I will keep the book on hand and compare with internet research to confirm the information is accurate.

Great explanation of Histamine Intolerance vs. Allergic Reactions
I have been plagued with eczema, hives and all over itchy skin for several years now. I've seen a dermatologist, an allergist, a pathologist who wanted to put me on Dupixent. Apart from mold, grass, fall grasses and ragweed, the tests showed very little. I tried the 6 Food Elimination Diet to see if diet would make a difference (no gluten, no eggs, no dairy, no nuts, no soy, no fish or shellfish). What that left was meat and any fruit and vegetables I wanted. After 6 weeks, my symptoms hadn't changed. Someone suggested I check out that Anti-Histamine Diet, and I ordered Anna Keating's book "The Antihistamine Diet". It was a godsend!!! It explains Histamine Intolerance so simply and clearly . This was miraculous because I had read medical journals online that I couldn't understand at all. Looking at the "top offenders" I realized I had been living on high histamine foods -- primarily, fresh tomatoes (it's the time of the year for delicious garden tomatoes), avocado and bacon . Admittedly, these are some of my favorite foods but cutting them out of my diet made an almost immediate difference. It has been about a week and so far I am six days into being itch-free for the first time in ages. I would have liked a bit more information about the author herself and who might have helped her write this book because I'm sure if I share it with my doctors, they will be skeptical of the attractive young woman on the cover with no DR of PhD near her name. Nevertheless, it is a fantastic little book, simply written with a wealth of information. It includes a meal plan but no recipes, but that doesn't bother me because once I know what foods are good for this condition and which are bad, I am confident I can make my own meals.

Best Overview of Histamine Intolerance!
Having experienced sensitive skin and three hideous hive outbreaks in my life I was determined to figure out why this happened. Doctors all prescribed anti-histamines in high amounts which helped, but never completely got rid of the hives. So recently the light bulb in my head went on and I thought "If I am taking all these anti-histamines...what is a histamine?" This led me to do online research and find Anna Keating's Anti-Histamine Book.Yes, there are typos in the book, and a couple of conflicting statements, but as a whole, I would now be lost without this book. I am so much better. I also saw a naturopathic physician who worked with me and she also was impressed with the book.Of course, every human body is so different, but having the explanations, recommendations regarding supplements, makes it all easier. After doing a very strict elimination diet for 4 weeks I was "all clear." Adding different foods is tricky, but never has caused severe full body hives. It is definitely a life long learning curve, but it gets easier to quickly identify what I can and cannot eat. Very grateful to have found this book!
